Lip Rejuvenation

The Science

Smooth, plump lips are a coveted signal of youth. But as we age, a combination of sun damage, genetics, and repeated habitual movements (i.e. smoking, drinking from a straw) can all leave their mark.  As collagen breaks down and bone recedes, small lines and wrinkles that used to form only when you’d pucker up suddenly frame your mouth year-round. Corners of the lips can turn down, flattening the lips. As these changes add up, your pout will become thinner and less supportive, contributing to a less-than-youthful appearance.

Our Approach

Full, younger-looking lips can be achieved at any age. Whether we are enhancing your lips, or simply replacing lost volume, we want you to leave our office looking like yourself. In order to get the most natural-looking results, our physicians use a choice of 2 or 3 different fillers of variable firmness to restore shape while maintaining softness. Depending on the combination and technique, we can use fillers to individuate treatments: addressing fine lines, lifting corners, or plumping for volume.

For those stubborn, delicate lines around the lips, we rely on specifically formulated fillers like Belotero Balance®, Juvéderm Volbella® XC, or Restylane® Refyne: hyaluronic acid fillers that can normally last for six months or longer. Another noninvasive option is to use devices to treat the area around the mouth. “I’m finding [Ultherapy® and Infini are] wonderful for the lines along the upper lip that no injectable can treat,” recommends Dr. Patricia Wexler.

What We Offer

Our Doctors Say…

The lips, like the rest of the face, need contour and shape. There should be definition of the cupid bow and the lower-lip cleft, giving the lip shape and sensuality rather than a large, ill-defined tube. Bigger is not always better.
