General Dermatology

The Science

At Wexler Dermatology, we understand that the health of the skin is intimately connected to the health of the body. Skin disorders and nail infections can cause a great deal of discomfort, and, if severe, can lead to serious medical complications. Acne, for example, may indicate a hormonal imbalance; moles that change color or size could be indicative of melanoma, and grey patches of skin could be a flag for type 2 diabetes. Dr. Patricia Wexler reminds us: “Infections, disease, dermatology…it’s all connected.”

That’s why, in addition to our cosmetic services, we assess and advise on a number of general dermatology issues. From skin cancer, rashes, and eczema to the removal of warts, cysts, and lipomas, we’ll work with you to ensure that the underlying condition and the manifestation of that condition get the same degree of attention and care.

Our Approach

Whether the result of age, disease, genetics, infection, or allergy, our approach is simple: soothe the symptoms while addressing the root cause. With any kind of dermatological abnormality, early detection and treatment will ensure the best results.

Many of these conditions may develop in severity, or morph into different, increasingly dangerous conditions that require more invasive treatments. That’s why we pay close attention to your skin during our skin cancer screenings, included in new patient consultations. “We look in more nooks and crannies than you ever will,” Dr. Wexler remarks.
