LightSheer DUET

The Science

The LightSheer® DUET™ is a laser hair removal treatment used to reduce the appearance and the growth of hair on the face and body. During the treatment, the laser heats up the individual follicles allowing the hair to absorb the light. As a result, the hair shaft and bulb are damaged, making regrowth slower and more difficult.

The LightSheer DUET has two available treatment heads: one treats larger areas with suction, which truly minimizes any discomfort, and the other focuses on smaller, more difficult-to-treat areas using a Sapphire ChillTip® handpiece to chill he skin, minimizing discomfort.

Our Approach

We strive to give our patients the most efficient and comfortable way to remove unwanted hair from the body, or prevent ingrown hairs. We precisely calibrate the machine in order to ensure that the results are a positive experience for the patient, since improper use of the machine can cause the opposite effect. “In extreme cases, stress can even mess with your hormones enough to cause vellus (fine) hair growth,” Dr. Patricia Wexler warns. With the flexibility of the LightSheer DUET, we can provide quick and effective treatment with little-to-no pain.

What to Expect

Length Of Procedure

Depending on the treatment area, the LightSheer DUET procedure can be completed comfortably in 20 minutes or less.

Results

We recommend receiving multiple treatments to achieve your desired results. Since hair grows at different stages of development, you may not see a difference for 2 to 3 treatments.

Downtime/Aftercare

There is no downtime after the LightSheer DUET procedure, and it is a nearly painless procedure. You can return to work or social activities right away. Hair follicles will appear slightly inflamed for 6 to 24 hours. We advise patients to stay out of the sun and avoid tanning.

Number of Treatments

We recommend an average of 6 treatments to see an approximate 80% reduction of hair growth. Darker skin tones may require additional treatments to achieve desired results. Treatments can be scheduled 3 to 4 weeks apart.
