Just as good as the $100 product!
How does an under $20 anti-aging moisturizer stack up against a similar cream five times its price?
To find out, we tested Physicians Formula Deep Wrinkle Corrector Day & Night Cream ($16.97) against a $100 option.
First, we got an expert’s take: “The Physicians Formula cream contains peptides, a proven wrinkle reducer, and alpha hydroxy acids, which help to get rid of spots,” says Francesca Fusco, an assistant clinical professor of dermatology at Mount Sinai School of Medicine in NYC. “The $100 cream contains equally good anti-aging ingredients, along with ones that give it a luxurious texture.” Next, a Redbook staffer in her mid-40s blind-tested both creams, applying one to each side of her face every night for four weeks. Both softened her fine lines and boosted her skin’s radiance: “Even my husband noticed!” she says. Our verdict? The pricey cream felt silkier and smelled prettier, but based on results alone, the Physicians Formula moisturizer delivered way more than we bargained for.
